One of the Autoclave Engineers
catalyst testing reactors for hydro-liquefaction, liquefaction, petroleum
cracking, surface chemistry & heterogeneous catalysis research. This design
spins a catalyst basket in liquid reactants. Like many of Autoclave Engineers
high pressure, laboratory, catalytic reactor designs it can be used as
a selective catalytic oxidation reactor, catalytic hydrogenation reactor,
or thermocatalytic reactor (including high temperature isothermal &
autothermal reaction processes).
A full range of apparatus used for catalyst research.
Mahoney-Robinson Spinning Basket Reactor: Catalyst Testing Reactors
Spinning annular basket for supported catalyst testing in fluid reactants
FEATURES
Pressure rating
5,500 psig (379 bar)
Temperature rating
650°F (343°C)
316SS is standard;
other chemical / petrochemical resistant alloys are offered, (e.g.
HASTELLOY® C-276)
The design conforms
to the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII Division 1: An
ASME code stamp is optional
The basket spins
up to 2,500 rpm MagneDrive® magnetic drive that eliminates
dynamic seals for worry free circulation
Retain the solid
catalyst in a spinning, woven wire mesh basket to allow liquid circulation
with low pressure drop
Circulating the
reactants past the catalyst's active surface avoids wearing & breakage (attrition) for accurate scale-up
Optional process
control instrumentation measures & controls temperature, basket speed
& pressure
Obtain expert,
catalytic equipment advice from the manufacturer & ongoing support from
the local, factory approved supplier
High pressure reactor
equipment is delivered custom configured & after full functional testing
for fast & easy start-up
BENEFITS
Mahoney-Robinson reactor is
one of the earliest reactor designs for liquid-solid phase supported heterogeneous
catalyst research. This high pressure laboratory apparatus can be used
for reproducing earlier of surface chemistry research including catalyst
screening, & catalyst characterization studies. The leak-free metal gasket
design provides bench-scale catalytic synthesis capability for scientific
experimentation.
